Turned Lamp

This magnolia was harvested and seasoned here on the Quinta de Sant'Ana estate. A large tree that had reached the end of its life, now given new purpose.

Magnolia turns beautifully. The grain is fine and even, with a warm honey colour that deepens over time. The subtle figure catches light differently as you move around the piece.

Estate wood carries meaning. This lamp began its life in the garden, eighty metres from the workshop where it was made.

Turned, sanded, and finished entirely on the wood lathe before assembly and wiring. A stable narrow base transitions elegantly into a tall stem, rising to a unique ribbed design near the top.

The ribbed section adds visual interest and invites touch. The proportions demand a generous lampshade to balance the height of the stem.

Finished with Quinta de Sant'Ana beeswax, hand-buffed to a soft lustre.
