Tea Tray Set

A tray for carrying tea from kitchen to garden, or breakfast to bed. The form is pared back to essentials: four sides, a base, and smoothed over handles for hands to find their grip naturally.

The proportions suit a full tea service: pot, cups, milk jug, and something sweet. Low sides keep everything accessible without risk of spilling.

Made as a set of two. One for each end of the house.

The short sides are double mortise and tenoned into the long sides and locked in by the dovetailed handles ensuring a sturdy construction. One joint secures the other - all hand-cut with precision and using simple tools.

The base floats in a groove, free to expand and contract with humidity. This kind of considered joinery accomplishes a strong tray that will be lifted, carried, and set down thousands of times.

Finished with food-safe mineral oil. Re-oil occasionally.
